1. 1. Dorothea Beach. This dreamy little beach is the quintessential Caribbean escape. A small condominium community sits just behind the beach, with a small parking lot available for visitors. There are no amenities, so be sure to bring your own supplies. Also, watch ocean conditions, as the water can get rough. Dorothea Beach is a 14-minute taxi ride from the Windward Passage Hotel.
   2. Little Magens Bay. This lesser-known cove is much quieter than Magens Bay, yet just as beautiful. There are no lifeguards, restrooms, rentals, or places to buy food and drinks, so come prepared. To get there, go to Magens Bay, pay the entrance fee, then walk to the far right end of the beach and carefully follow the short rocky path. You can also swim to the cove. Little Magens Bay is known for its vibrant marine life, making it a spot you won’t want to miss. Magens Bay is easy to reach by taxi and is about 16 minutes from the Windward Passage Hotel.
   3. Neltjeberg Bay Beach. This secluded beach is a shimmering vision for the introverted beachgoer. Neltjeberg Bay Beach has no amenities or facilities, so bring everything you need. There is a long, rough road to get there, so you’ll either want to take a Four Wheel Drive or an All Wheel Drive vehicle, or you can take a snorkeling tour from one of the island’s trusted companies. This beach is about a 17-minute drive from the Windward Passage Hotel. 
   4. Botany Bay/Mermaid’s Chair Beach. Mermaid’s Chair Beach is a dazzling slip of sand where the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea meet, and is located within Botany Bay and The Preserve. Also, this idyllic haven has no amenities, so you will want to bring whatever you need. Be aware that there isn’t much shade, so bring water. According to usvibeaches.com, to get there, you will park at a gated community and check in with the security guard. You will need to show your ID. The walk is about a mile from the entrance and is downhill. Sometimes a shuttle runs from Sandy Bay Beach (also inside The Preserve), but you need to check with the security guard. It is about a 25-minute taxi ride from the Windward Passage Hotel.
   5. Lindquist Beach (Smith Bay Park). According to the Magens Bay Authority website, “legend says that Sir Francis Drake used this area as a hideout while waiting for passing ships to plunder.” With amazing views of other islands and clear azure waters, lifeguards and restrooms with showers are available during park hours. However, you must bring your own food and water, and there are no sporting equipment rentals, so bring your own equipment. There is a paid parking lot, and you will need to pay an entrance fee.
