Recovering from hurricane

“The Windward Passage is a twice a year stop for us enroute and returning from the

BVIs. It is conveniently located directly across from the ferry terminal, less than a 5

minute walk. Staying at the Windward the first night when landing at St. Thomas allows

us to catch the first morning ferry to Road Town which is nearly empty as no US flights

have yet landed. Returning from Road Town, we stay another night which eliminates the

stress of making a close flight connection.

We have a leisurely breakfast at Gladys restaurant, check out, and grab a cab to the

airport and check in early. Again, no stress of missed connections.

St. Thomas is still recovering and can use your visit and income to help themselves

come back stronger than ever.”

Ladies at checkin!!!

“Your kindness was spectacular, when I needed your help with utensils. Cleaning lady

that got me ice…. wow is all I can say. Most attention and respect I got my whole visit. I

felt more love from you than anyone else on island GREAT JOB!!!!!”

Fantastic!

“I was very skeptical about this hotel at first, due to the many inconsistent reviews I

read; but my boyfriend and I decided to just have that go with the flow attitude. I was

pleasantly surprised when we arrived! You cannot go in here with a pretentious attitude,

there are some “quirky” things about the hotel but everyone was accommodating and

friendly. Treat the residents with respect and you’ll get that in return. Overall, great

place, would stay there again. But the restaurant is severely over priced and not that

good. You’re better off going out around the hotel to dine. There are some AMAZING

little finds! Hope this review helps”

Business travel to St Thomas

“Hotel size was ok but still in renovation from the hurricane. The restaurant was closed

but you can find a good one walking distance. Also a convenient store is close by and

the ferry to Tortola is just in front of the hotel.”

Living local within St Thomas

“I highly recommend this hotel because you’re in center of town and you are not

required to have a car. The front desk was very helpful and you are soda in the center of

town. If you’re lucky a baseball game will be played in the baseball field which is

adjacent to the hotel. Very very nice people would recommend entirely. Just be careful

at night on the backstreets. Like I said it’s in town and make sure you govern yourself

Convenient location, so so service

“I stayed there twice as I had to take the ferry to Tortola and back. The location is great
as you can just walk to the ferry terminal. The rooms are standard, clean, working wifi
etc. Has a funky window in the bathroom that opens into the room which some may like,
some may not. The non sea view rooms have frosted glass so you cannot see outside
(but maybe you don’t want to see). I was OK with the room but my friend changed to
another hotel on the way back as the service was not that great and she didn’t like the
room. The receptionists are in general not friendly at all. When we checked in the first
time, they didn’t have the reservation for my friend, and though trying to accommodate
her, she was pretty unfriendly. Second time we checked in, the room was not ready after
4pm and had to wait, which was not a problem, but she didn’t indicate how long the wait
will be, nor apologetic about the fact that we had to wait. A little “sorry” would have been
nice. And when I asked how much the taxi will cost to the airport, her answer was brief
and abrupt saying that she doesn’t know. (which is odd, when you work in a hotel
anywhere in the world, the receptionist can give you an estimate). She didn’t seem very
interested in giving any service.
But for the price and convenience to the ferry, it is a good hotel. Don’t expect any
service.”

Convenient and comfortable large hotel

“Windward Passage is a large hotel that is convenient to restaurants and shopping. It is
across the street from the Fast Ferry to Tortola which is why we chose it.
It has a beautiful 2-story courtyard in the center with swimming pool and lots of seating
areas and umbrella tables. Scattered throughout the courtyard are sweet sculptures of
children doing various activities.
We had a spacious room with king bed, refrigerator in large credenza with tv on top. It
also had a desk with chair, a settee and end tables with lamps on both sides of bed.
Bed and pillows were comfortable.
The front desk personnel were friendly and efficient.
We had to sign a waiver to say we accepted the conditions “as is”, since they are still
recovering from Hurricane Irma, but we had no issues with our room.
Hairdryer, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion were provided in bathroom.”
